PRIVACY POLICY CAT WIDGET

General information and mandatory disclosures

Controller
The controller for data processing in this app is:
Gniechwitz & Walterbusch GbR
Daniel Scholz (born Gniechwitz) and Maik Walterbusch
Bergstrasse 7
48607 Ochtrup
Germany
Email: info@gw-solutions.de

The controller decides alone or together with others on the purposes and means of processing personal data (such as names or contact details).

In short
Cat Widget works without a user account. We run no server that the app writes to. There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third party libraries that collect data. Your settings stay on your device. The only things that leave it are what the weather display and the place search need, and those requests go to Apple.

What stays on the device
The app stores its settings in a protected area of your device that the app and the widgets share. This includes the chosen place with its coordinates, the units for temperature and wind, the chosen styles and colours, the title and date of your countdown, and the weather reading fetched most recently. The battery level is likewise read on the device only, for the battery gauge. None of this is transmitted to us. If you delete the app, this information goes with it.

Location
The app needs a place in order to show the weather. You can search for one yourself or use your current location. The app asks for permission only if you choose your current location. Your position is then determined once, sent to Apple so the name of the place can be shown, and saved as your place. There is no continuous location tracking, and we do not receive your location. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you give by granting the permission. You can withdraw it at any time in the iOS settings.

Weather data
The weather data comes from Apple Weather. So that the forecast matches the right place, the app sends the coordinates of the chosen place to Apple. We do not send your name, an identifier of your device or your Apple ID along with it. We see neither the requests nor the answers; the tile is put together on your device. According to Apple, these requests are not linked to you personally. Details can be found in Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
The list of weather data sources is available at: https://weatherkit.apple.com/legal-attribution.html

Place search
When you search for a place, your input is sent to Apple's map service in order to obtain suggestions. The search starts only from two characters onwards and after a short delay, so that not every keystroke triggers a request. We do not receive these entries.

Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled through the App Store. We never see your payment details. The app only asks Apple whether a valid purchase exists for your account, and remembers the answer on the device so that the widgets know what is unlocked even without a connection. Apple provides us with aggregated sales figures from which no individual person can be identified.

Cat Widget shop
The entry for the Cat Widget shop takes you out of the app and to a shop provided by Spreadshirt. The service provider and the controller for the processing of personal data there is sprd.net AG, Giesserstrasse 27, 04229 Leipzig, Germany. What is processed there includes the IP address and the details you give when placing an order. We learn nothing about the people who order, only which products and designs were bought. If a purchase is made, Gniechwitz & Walterbusch GbR receives a commission. Information on data processing by Spreadshirt: https://service.spreadshirt.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000978409/?shop_name=CatWidget&shop_id=101012239&platform=eu

More apps
The entry “More apps” opens our developer page in the App Store. Apple's privacy policy applies to that.

Contact by email
If you write to us, we process your details in order to deal with your enquiry and to be available for follow up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where a contract is involved, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Your details are not passed on without your consent. We delete the message once it is no longer needed and no statutory retention period stands in the way.

Withdrawing your consent to data processing
Some data processing operations are possible only with your express consent. You can withdraw consent you have already given at any time. An informal message by email is sufficient. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out until the withdrawal remains unaffected.

Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority
As a data subject you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority in the event of a breach of data protection law. The competent supervisory authority for data protection matters is the data protection officer of the German federal state in which our company is based. The following link provides a list of data protection officers and their contact details: https://www.bfdi.bund.de/DE/Infothek/Anschriften_Links/anschriften_links-node.html

Right to data portability
You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in performance of a contract handed over to you or to a third party. It is provided in a machine readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this is done only where it is technically feasible.

Right to information, correction, restriction and deletion
Within the framework of the applicable statutory provisions you have the right at any time to free information about your stored personal data, its origin, its recipients and the purpose of the processing, and where applicable a right to have that data corrected, restricted or deleted. On this and on any other question concerning personal data you can contact us at any time using the contact details given in the legal notice.
